Supermarkets and shops
Lubumbashi has a wide range of shops selling all kinds of goods. It is possible to find almost anything you need in Lubumbashi these days although be prepared to find prices can be higher than in other countries often due to import and transport costs.
There are four main supermarkets in the city centre. Several of these have been modernised in recent times providing a more pleasant experience to the shoppers.
There are also many hardware stores, several car parts shop, as well as furniture and clothes shops.
There are two book shops in the city the Catholic book shop in town and a secular bookshop at La Plage.
Don’t leave Lubumbashi without visiting one of its markets such as Marche Mzee Kabila named after the father of the current President it offers all sorts of goods including fresh fruit and vegetables. Be prepared to barter before purchasing!
Once finished shopping you may like to finish off with a little coffee at the well known and respected coffee shop in town or at La Plage. Parking can be hard to find in town but there are often parking attendants on hand to assist you to find a spot.
